Permanent Demand Reduction
$600 per kW saved in New York City & Westchester
$300 per kW saved elsewhere in New York State
If you can permanently reduce electric demand by at least 20 kW in Con Edison territory, then you may be eligible for funding. We will help pay for capital improvement costs with an incentive of $600/kW, up to 65% of costs or $1.25 Million per facility.
Projects outside of Con Edison service territory, (excluding NYPA and LIPA), may receive funding up to $300/kW.
Small lighting projects anywhere in the state (must replace lamp and ballast) may receive funding through the streamlined Prescriptive Lighting Program.
Projects must reduce electric demand during summer weekdays for a large portion of the time between Noon and 6:00pm for at least 5 years.
Measures may include any hard-wired technology that permanently reduces electric demand, e.g. efficient lighting, chiller upgrades or replacement, the installation of solar panels or other renewable technology, or any other measure that can provide provable permanent demand reductions. NYSERDA will retain ownership of all environmental attributes associated with funded projects.
Controls systems such as variable frequency drives, energy management systems, demand limiters, or other devices that achieve savings by controlling equipment are not eligible for PDR incentives, but may receive funding for Demand Response.
All projects must develop a Technical Assessment to determine the exact demand reduction. NYSERDA will assign a consultant, free-of-charge, to help develop the TA.
