Double Aught Lumber is a sawmill located
in Candor (Tioga County) that annually produces 17 million feet of green
lumber and seeks to control operating costs to remain competitive in a
commodity market.
This project will help Double Aught convert wood waste into energy by
using a Chiptec Gasifier, that in turn, will run a combined heat and power
(CHP) system. This process will generate electricity, while the thermal
energy will be used to run the kilns.
This system will utilize the on-site wood waste thereby eliminating
disposal and shipping cost. Further, this project will support the deployment
of renewable energy resources, and sustain New York business by reducing
energy costs.
NYSERDA has co-funded this project to cover the cost of labor, equipment,
and testing.
