Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Program
Demand Control Ventilation (DCV) FOR Building Owners
DCV saves energy by automatically adjusting building ventilation rates in real time based on occupancy. DCV sensors measure the carbon dioxide levels in the air to establish how many people are in the space. It then adjusts the air conditioner's economizer so that the air flow either increases or decreases to match the per person ventilation requirements as established by code. Typically, economizers provide air flow as if a space were at maximum occupancy, which results in over-ventilation. By setting the ventilation rates based on actual occupancy, building occupants receive improved air quality while reducing the need to heat or cool excessive amounts of outside air, thus saving significant amounts of energy.
Participating contractors receive training and incentives to promote the sale of DCV technology. Contractors can help their customers improve indoor air quality, reduce electricity consumption, and lower their overall energy bills.
Here's how to receive incentives for DCV installation at your facility:
1. Ask your local HVAC contractor about installing DCV sensors in your facility.
2. Call a contractor who has been trained by, and who is actively participating in the DCV Project.
