State Appliance Standards

Article 16, Sections 102-108 of New York State Law directs the Department of State, in consultation with NYSERDA, to establish minimum efficiency standards for specific energy-using products and to apply testing, certification and enforcement of efficiency standards which are sold, offered for sale or installed in New York state. Section 106, part 2(g), set forth a requirement that DOS, in consultation with NYSERDA, conduct a study to determine whether an energy efficiency performance standard for incandescent reflector lamps should be established. NYSERDA has established an Advisory Committee to provide input during the development of these standards.  The Advisory Committee consists of representatives from industry, efficiency and environmental advocate organizations, and agencies subject to the standards once they are established.  The representative groups in the Advisory Committee include:
