Adirondack Council
Protects the open-space resources of New York State's six-million acre Adirondack Park and helps to sustain the natural and human communities of the region.

Adirondack Lakes Survey Corporation (ALSC)
A not-for-profit corporation established in 1984. ALSC's Adirondack Long Term Monitoring program (ALTM) samples 52 lakes monthly and 3 streams weekly, and analyzes for 21 chemical parameters. Available are ALTM data, as well as fisheries and chemistry data collected during the 1984-1987 Adirondack Lakes Survey (ALS), and Acid Rain and the Adirondacks: A Research Summary.

California Air Resources Board (CARB)
Works with the public, the business sector, and local governments to protect the public's health, the economy, and California's ecological resources through the most cost-effective reduction of air pollution.

Center for Clean Air Policy
Seeks to promote and implement innovative solutions to major environmental and energy problems which balance both environmental and economic interests.

Clean Air Task Force
A nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring clean air and healthy environments through scientific research, public education, and legal advocacy.

Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI)
An an independent, non-profit center for public interest energy and environmental research.

Environmental Defense (ED)
A national nonprofit organization that links science, economics and law to create innovative, equitable and cost-effective solutions to society's most urgent environmental problems.

Environmental Energy Alliance of New York
An unincorporated association of electric generating companies, and electric and gas transmission and distribution companies that provide energy services in the State.

NARSTO
NARSTO is non-binding partnership open to science agencies, regulatory agencies, regulated industries, academic institutions, environmentalists, and public interests groups in Canada, Mexico and the United States. Their mission is to plan, coordinate, and facilitate comprehensive, long-term, policy-relevant scientific research and assessment of primary and secondary pollutant species over the North American continent. Available at this site is the document, "Particulate Matter Science for Policy Makers," partially supported by NYSERDA, as well as the report entitled, "Improving Emissions Inventories for Effective Air Quality Management Across North America".

National Atmospheric Deposition Program (NADP)
A nationwide network of precipitation monitoring sites. The network is a cooperative effort between many different groups, including the State Agricultural Experiment Stations, U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and numerous other governmental and private entities.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
NOAA conducts research and gathers data about oceans, atmosphere, space, sun and climate change.

National Park Service (NPS)
Home of the National Park Service and America's national parks

New York Academy of Science (NYAS)
Committed to promoting science and technology in fostering social and economic development.

New York Energy Smart
The New York Energy $martSM program is designed to continue energy efficiency, low-income services, research and development, and environmental protection programs during the State 's transition to electric retail competition, and is a key element in the restructuring of New York's electric utility industry.

New York State Adirondack Park Agency (APA)
Mission is to develop long-range land use plans for both public and private lands within the Adirondack Park.

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC)
New York State agency that monitors and protects the state's natural resources.

New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH)
A governmental agency managing state wide health concerns through education, outreach and public services.

New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA)
Uses innovation and technology to solve some of New York's most difficult energy and environmental problems in ways that improve the State's economy. Supports public benefit programs and provides energy efficiency services, including those directed at the low-income sector, research and development, and environmental protection activities.

New York State Public Service Commission (NYSPSC)
Promotes competitive markets and streamline regulation by using output oriented, performance based approaches.

Northeast States for Coordinated Air Use Management (NESCAUM)
Exchanges technical information, and to promote cooperation and coordination of technical and policy issues regarding air quality control among the member states.

United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA)
Leads the nation's environmental science, research, education and assessment efforts. EPA's mission is to protect human health and to safeguard the natural environment - air, water, and land - upon which life depends

USEPA Clean Air Markets Program
United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) web site that provides information on the causes and effects of acid rain, how the EPA measures acid rain and what they are doing to solve the problem.

USEPA Clean Air Status and Trends Network (CASTNET)
United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) web site that provides comprehensive information on acid deposition. CASTNET is the nation's primary source for data on dry acidic deposition and rural, ground-level ozone.

United States Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS)
The US Fish & Wildlife Service works to conserve, protect and enhance fish, wildlife, and plants and their habitats.

U.S. Forest Service (USFS)
The US Forest Service (USFS) is an agency of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The Forest Service manages public lands in national forests and grasslands.

United States Geological Survey (USGS)
A federal source for science about the Earth, its natural and living resources, natural hazards, and the environment.
