Response

As the impacts of global warming begin to be felt, various response opportunities arise, both in the private and public sectors. Many individuals and firms have taken advantage of these opportunities, which broadly fall into the categories of mitigation and adaptation.

Mitigation of climate change refers to actions taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, such as research and innovation in renewable energy technologies. Adaptation refers to actions taken to minimize the effects of climate change, such as adaptive farming and construction practices. Many response opportunities incorporate both mitigation and adaptation strategies.
