The main purposes of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems are to provide thermal comfort and to maintain good indoor air quality. These conditions are essential for a quality, high-performance learning environment. HVAC systems are also one of the largest energy consumers in schools, and relatively small improvements in design or equipment selection can mean large long-term savings in energy expenditures over the life cycle of the system.
This course provides information on the factors that affect thermal comfort and how thermal comfort is measured. The course is worth one hour of continuing education credit in the area of Health, Safety, Welfare.
