The quality of the air inside a school is critical to the health and performance of children, teachers, and staff. A high performance school should provide superior-quality indoor air by: eliminating and controlling the sources of contamination; providing adequate ventilation; commissioning the building; and implementing effective operations and maintenance procedures. School districts have the power to control their indoor air quality. Because of the diverse range of pollutant sources and the potentially high costs of corrective actions, schools should focus on prevention. Many no-cost and low-cost approaches are available to prevent problems.
The course is worth 1 hour of continuing education credit in the area of Health, Saftety, Welfare.
