Participating in the Focus CRE initiative will facilitate access to all NYSERDA incentives for both technical services and capital investments, allowing you to move seamlessly from the planning to the implementation stages. The Focus CRE team will help you determine your eligibility for different programs and submit applications to receive these incentives.

Incentives for technical work
Whether you work with a NYSERDA pre-approved contractor or your own energy consulting engineer, NYSERDA provides subsidies to cover the cost of technical studies leading to energy efficiency improvements. NYSERDA cost-shares 50% of all technical work including benchmarking, energy audits and other analyses such as demand response, capital planning, and lease analysis studies.

Incentives for capital work
NYSERDA provides a wide range of incentives for capital energy improvements. Based on your building's improved performance, you could receive incentives up to half the cost of capital improvements, capped at $2 million. Prequalified incentives up to $30,000 are also available for smaller projects installing specific equipment. The Focus CRE team will help you identify incentives for which you are eligible and guide you through the application process.

New York City Mandate Compliance
The City of New York's recently passed Greener, Greater Buildings Plan legislation mandates benchmarking, auditing, and retrocommissioning of buildings over 50,000 square feet. Owners and managers of these buildings can use NYSERDA incentives to comply.

As consultants, you can access the Benchmarking Toolkit, advanced diagnostic tools, an Energy Scan assessment checklist, lease-based financial analysis tools and presentation materials to connect your clients to NYSERDA incentives. Focus CRE also provides cost-sharing for technical analyses, and can be used as a marketing tool to help you present the environmental and financial advantages of going green through a simple and sustainable process.
