Private Colleges and Universities
In an attempt to reduce energy use in institutions of higher education, the following agencies offer energy-efficiency incentives. Available programs support in the research, development, and implementation of energy-efficient products and strategies. Financial assistance is available for qualified improvements.
New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA)

provides a one-stop for sector specific information on NYSERDA programs - Power...Naturally has incentives and contractors for solar and wind installations
- Technical Assistance provides cost-sharing to work with your energy engineer/expert
- Flexible Technical Assistance (FlexTech) provides cost-sharing to work with a prequalified consultant
- Existing Facilities Program offers incentives for energy-efficienct improvements to existing buildings
- New Construction Program offers incentives for energy-efficiency design in new construction and substaintial renovations
- Green Buildings Program assists buildings in obtaining LEED certification
- Retrocommissioning optimizes how building equipment and systems operate
- Alternative-Fuel Vehicle Program provides incentives and technical information to encourage fleets to purchase alternative-fueled vehicles
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) 
- *Energy Conservation Study - PON 4 provides funding to complete Energy Conservation Studies, which can be used to support applications to upcoming project implementation funding opportunities

New York Power Authority (NYPA)

such as lighting upgrades, high-efficiency motors for heating and ventilation, replacement or renovation of boilers and chillers, lighting occupancy sensors, insulation and energy management system

Incentives and Rebates for Installation of Energy Efficiency Measures
- Audits
provide quick, easy, and free customized cost-savings recommendations
- Lighting
rebates on ENERGY STAR qualified CFLs
- Retrofitting equipment
provides financial incentives to developers to install qualified energy-efficient equipment in buildings under construction or renovation
- Construction
incentives for qualifying measures including lighting and HVAC to help offset costs

Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY)
Construction
- All-green only-green policy applies to all DASNY construction projects. New additions or significant renovations must register in a LEED system, set goals, and document progress. All other projects must set specific sustainable goals (without third party review process).
Public Finance
- Tax-Exempt Equipment Leasing Program (TELP) provides financing for the leasing of various types of equipment, including energy-efficiency equipment, ranging from computer or phone systems to major health diagnostic equipment
- Power of Two Partnership provides complementary services and financing options to customers eligible for DASNY and NYSERDA assistance in New York State
- Energy Performance Contracting and Shared Savings Initiative provides financing for energy saving projects on a tax-exempt basis and guarantees savings on energy costs
