Executive Order No. 111 & No. 142


DASNY

On March 20, 2008, Governor David A. Paterson continued both Executive Order No. 111, "Directing State Agencies, State Authorities, and Other Affected Entities to be More Energy Efficient and Environmentally Aware;"and Executive Order No.142," Directing State Agencies, and Authorities to Diversify Fuel and Heating Oil Supplies Through the Use of Biofuels in State Vehicles and Buildings". The directives were continued through Executive Order No. 1, "Continuation and Review of Prior Executive Orders." These Executive Orders continue
New York's leadership as one the most aggressive states in the Union for addressing issues such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, green building practices, and alternate fuel vehicles. The Executive Orders identified NYSERDA as the organization responsible for coordinating and assisting agencies and other affected entities with their responsibilities.

Executive Order No. 111 also created an Advisory Council to assist NYSERDA in fulfilling the requirements of this order. The Advisory Council consists of: the President of NYSERDA; the Director of the Division of the Budget; the Commissioners of OGS, the Department of Environmental Conservation, the Department of Correctional Services, the Office of Mental Health, and the Department of Transportation; the Chairman of the Public Service Commission; the Chancellor of the State University of New York; the Secretary of State; the Chairman of the New York Power Authority; the Chairman of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority; the Executive Director of the Dormitory Authority; and the President of the Long Island Power Authority. The President of NYSERDA, serves as the Chair of the Advisory Council.

Executive Order No. 111 directed NYSERDA to issue a set of guidelines within six months from the issuance of the Order. The Advisory Council and several working groups established to address issues and questions associated with the Order. These guidelines will be updated on an as-needed basis.
