ADVANCED ENERGY CONVERSION FORMS ECOPOWER

New Subsidiary to Commercialize the ecoJoule TM Solar Inverter

MALTA, NY – November 13, 2007 – Advanced Energy Conversion, LLC (AEC) is pleased to announce that it recently created a new subsidiary called ecoPower, LLC. ecoPower was officially formed on September 12, 2007 and is located in NYSERDA’s Saratoga Technology + Energy Park in Malta.

The first product to be commercialized by ecoPower will be the innovative ecoJoule™ 2500 inverter, used in solar power installations. The product will be manufactured in the State of New York and will be sold worldwide.

ecoPower was established in response to growing opportunities in the energy markets with the goal of bringing to market products developed by Advanced Energy Conversion.

“Most people that install solar photovoltaic systems are surprised to learn that unless they have installed an expensive battery back-up system, when there is a power outage their home is still without power…even when it’s a sunny day! Our ecoJoule inverter is the first product on the market with a good answer to that problem.” said J. Gary McDaniel, President and General Manager of ecoPower. “Because of its unique set of features, interest in our product is growing rapidly. I wish I had a dollar for every time I’ve heard an installer say ‘It’s about time someone figured out how to do that!’ It’s a great product for New York as well,” said McDaniel. “This product was developed here and it will be manufactured here, thereby creating jobs and helping to advance New York’s agenda to establish the Tech Valley as a world leader in renewable energy technologies.”

“On behalf of NYSERDA, I am extending a wholehearted welcome to AEC’s brand new subsidiary, ecoPower, joining its parent company at NYSERDA’s Saratoga Technology + Energy Park (STEP) in Malta. We are especially pleased that the first ecoPower commercialized product, ecoJoule™ , an innovative version of the inverter required to convert DC current from solar photovoltaic panels to usable AC current, will be manufactured in New York State and sold worldwide. Such state-of-the-art advances are key to the growth of renewable energy technologies. This is truly a dynamic response to the expanding global energy market and to the future energy landscape” said Paul Tonko, President and CEO, NYSERDA.

About the ecoJoule Inverter

Solar photovoltaic (PV) panels produce direct current (DC) that is not compatible with the electricity generated by the utilities and used by most electrical equipment and appliances, etc., which run on alternating current (AC). Therefore solar PV systems require an inverter to convert the DC flowing from the solar panels to usable AC. Developed with the assistance of NYSERDA and the U. S. Department of Energy, the ecoJoule2500 inverteris a low input voltage, series parallel, inverter that can deliver up to 2500W of electric power. Because of its innovative design, patented software configuration, and low input voltage, the ecoJoule inverter offers distinctive benefits – including incremental system installation, superior productivity in shaded situations, battery back-up, and utility interaction – not matched by any other inverters on the market, which are high input voltage, series string, inverters.
