FOR RELEASE: Immediate; March 6, 2006 CONTACT: Colleen Ryan, NYSERDA (518) 862-1090 ext. 3359; cqr@nyserda.org STATE ANNOUNCES FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECTS
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) announced today $8.5 million in funding available for renewable energy projects in New York State. NYSERDA is currently seeking proposals for three renewable energy programs - Renewable Energy Technology Manufacturing Incentive Program, Renewable Energy Technology Options Program, and a Renewable Energy Business Development Program.
"Governor Pataki and NYSERDA continue to work toward promoting the research and development of clean energy technologies in New York State," said Peter R. Smith, President of NYSERDA. "These programs help advance that goal, offering significant opportunities for companies to expand and grow in the renewable energy field."
Through its New York Energy $martSM program, NYSERDA is supporting the development of clean energy technologies. Promoting increased use of clean energy within the State will help it become more energy independent, reducing our dependence on imported energy sources, and reap environmental benefits. Fostering both the increased use of clean energy and also the economic opportunities presented by this growing business sector provides additional benefits to the State.
The available funding for clean energy projects span from the manufacturing of renewable energy technologies, to product development, to the facets of business development in the renewable energy market. Proposals for these program opportunity notices will be competitively selected and peer-reviewed. Successful proposers are awarded projects under NYSERDA's streamlined contracting process.
