The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) sponsored a roundtable discussion on September 18, 2007 at the New York Stock Exchange to discuss solutions to the energy issues related to data centers and their impact on the financial industry.
Data centers are the central nervous system of the U.S. banking and financial services industries and the U.S. economy depends on their safe, secure, and continuous operations. Exponentially increasing data center energy demands, as well as skyrocketing costs, must be addressed to keep our economy running smoothly.
Leading edge solutions for these issues were discussed at the executive roundtable which included Alexander Karsner, Assistant Secretary of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy for the U.S. Department of Energy; Paul D. Tonko, President and CEO of NYSERDA; and senior executives from the U.S. financial services and technology industries.
